Hello! My name is Isabella Klaton and I am a student in the Theater Department at Duke Ellington School of the Arts (or DESA for short). Here in the Theater Department we take many classes taught by professional actors who have trained and or worked professionally in the theater industry. We also get to have fun learning opportunities like attend masterclasses, go to shows, do talk backs and much more. A long with that, we put on many of our own productions at the school. As fun as all of these things are, they wouldn't be possible without the March for the Arts fund. Our department doesn't get money from DC public schools, so we have to make our own money to pay for everything. However, March for the Arts pays for all of the masterclasses, and the productions that we produce. We also use that fund to pay for our annual trip to New York City to see a Broadway show and talk to the actors afterwards. With your donations, we will be able to keep learning and growing as actors.
March
for the Arts is the
Duke Ellington School of the Arts annual
Theatre Fundraiser.
Support Us!
In the Theatre Department, students aren't just taught how to act. They are taught how to create the stories they want to see. They are given the tools to shape the world around them with their art. Ellington relies on the generosity of parents and donors to ensure that our students receive the highest level of pre-professional training and performance opportunities. Donations enable them to create sets, craft costumes, power technical capabilities, hire additional instructors, and fund classes with Master Acting Teachers like the renowned Professor Vera Katz, Tony-nominated actor Corey Hawkins.
