˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ welcome!!

Theatre has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Long before I ever stepped on a stage, I was drawn to stories—the way they could shift a room, the way they could make people feel seen.

The Duke Ellington School of the Arts is more than a school—it’s a sanctuary where young voices are nurtured and amplified. At the heart of this creative haven is the theatre department: a space not only for performance, but for healing, transformation, and fearless self-expression.

At Ellington, students aren’t just taught how to act—they’re taught how to be. To embrace their truth, speak it boldly, and explore the full spectrum of who they are through story and stage. Theatre becomes more than art—it becomes a lifeline.

But programs like this one rely on community support to thrive. Donations help fund the costumes, sets, guest teachers, and workshops that make this work possible.

If you believe in the power of art, of voice, of young people stepping into themselves, I hope you’ll consider giving. You're not just funding a performance—you’re fueling futures.

Support Us!

In the Theatre Department, students aren't just taught how to act. They are taught how to create the stories they want to see. They are given the tools to shape the world around them with their art. Ellington relies on the generosity of parents and donors to ensure that our students receive the highest level of pre-professional training and performance opportunities. Donations enable them to create sets, craft costumes, power technical capabilities, hire additional instructors, and fund classes with Master Acting Teachers like the renowned Professor Vera Katz, Tony-nominated actor Corey Hawkins.
